Erling Haaland has revealed the rather unusual diet which has helped him rise to the top of world football, and become the best striker on earth.
The Man City star revealed his strange tastes on the documentary ‘Haaland – The Big Decision’, which aired on Norwegian television.
In it he talks about eating beef heart and beef liver, while he also describes why he chosen to filter his water.
“You [other people] don’t eat this, but I am concerned with taking care of my body. I think eating quality food that is as local as possible is the most important. Or the local cow eating grass right over there? I eat the heart and the liver.”
“People say meat is bad for you but which? The meat you get at McDonald’s? Or the local cow eating grass right over there? I eat the heart and the liver.”
He goes on to explain the complex water filtration system he uses, while stressing how important sunlight is. Haaland revealed that he tries to get some sun as soon as he wakes up in the morning, and also mentioned a circadian rhythm, which is an internal process in the body that regulates the sleeping and waking up pattern.
“The first thing I do in the morning is to get some sunlight in my eyes — it is good for circadian rhythm. I have also started to filtrate my water a bit. I think it can have great benefits for my body,” he continued.
It had been revealed that one of Haaland’s secrets to success was a pre-match lasagne made by his father, Alfie Haaland. The forward eats that before every home game and Pep Guardiola made a swift joke about the meal ahead of his side’s game against Southampton on Friday.
The City manager said: “We can make an offer for Erling’s father to cook for us. If this is the secret of Erling’s goals, I will convince (Chairman) Khaldoon (Al Mubarak) to bring him here! But I don’t think there’s just one secret.”
