Ederson, the goalkeeper for Manchester City, has played a crucial role in the team’s success since his arrival in 2017 for £35m from Benfica. With 341 appearances for the club, he has faced off against some of the top attacking players in the Premier League. Despite playing alongside star strikers like Sergio Aguero and Erling Haaland, Ederson named Harry Kane as the toughest opponent he has faced due to the Englishman’s quality both inside and outside the box. Kane, who nearly joined City in 2021 for £100m, impressed Ederson with his skills and goal-scoring ability during their encounters on the pitch.
At 31, Kane has scored over 350 goals in his career and managed to find the back of the net three times against Ederson in their 10 meetings while he was at Tottenham Hotspur. Despite the unsuccessful attempt to sign Kane, Ederson’s admiration for the striker’s talent highlights the respect he has for him as one of the best in the game. Clinton Morrison even suggested that Kane could have scored 50 goals in one season at City, showcasing the striker’s caliber. While Ederson may be relieved that he no longer has to face Kane in the Premier League, he acknowledges the difficulty in playing against such a talented player.
