Divock Origi, with almost 350 senior appearances to his name, has weighed in on the debate of whether Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker is better than legendary player Philipp Lahm. The Nottingham Forest striker, who has played for clubs across Europe’s top leagues, was faced with a tough decision when choosing between the two iconic figures in the world of football.
In a recent video shared on Nottingham Forest’s TikTok channel, Origi was tasked with selecting a starting XI based on the players’ EA FC 24 cards. When it came to the right-back position, Origi had to choose between Walker and Lahm, ultimately opting for the Englishman over the German legend.
Walker, who was signed by Manchester City from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 for a hefty £50 million fee, has since made 288 appearances for the Citizens. During his time at the club, he has scored six goals, provided 21 assists, and won five Premier League titles. On the other hand, Lahm spent 22 years at Bayern Munich, amassing 517 senior appearances and earning praise from the likes of Pep Guardiola for his intelligence on the pitch.
Speaking of Guardiola, the City boss has lauded both Walker and Lahm for their unique abilities. While he described Lahm as a “fantastic” and “intelligent” player during his time at Bayern Munich, Guardiola has more recently praised Walker for his physical attributes that set him apart from others.
Given the accolades and accomplishments of both Walker and Lahm, Origi’s decision to choose the English right-back over the German stalwart speaks volumes about the former’s skill and impact on the pitch. It’s clear that Origi’s choice was not made lightly, considering the prestige and reputation of the players involved.
