TalkSPORT pundit, Jamie O’Hara, believes Manchester City youngster, Phil Foden, who is widely regarded as one of English football’s brightest prospects will be one of the best players that England will have ever had in their national team.
The pundit claims the City youngster is ‘way better’ than Manchester City legend, David Silva was at the club and went ahead comparing him to Manchester United stars Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.
“I think he’s he’s a potential future England captain. For me, he’s going to be one of the best players we’ve ever seen play for England” O’Hara told talkSPORT.
“We talk about David Silva, a Man City legend in terms of what he’s done, but he went to the club when he was established as a finished article. For me, Phil Foden is going to be way better than Silva at Man City. He’s doing it already against Real Madrid and he’s still only a kid.”
He added: “Everyone’s talking about Greenwood, Rashford and all these great young players, but Foden is the best player. He will be England’s best player. Play him anywhere he wants to play. I think he can play anywhere.”

Phil Foden was surprisingly included in the starting XI for crucial Champions League clash against Real Madrid last saturday.
With players like David Silva, Bernardo and also Riyad Mahrez on the substitutes’ bench, to include Foden felt like a statement from Guardiola and the youngster’s mature display showed he made the right choice.
Even at a young age, he has the intelligence and versatility to play anywhere, but attacking midfield role is where Foden is expected to more influential. Foden’s youthful flair, risk-taking and creativity, particularly in the final third, is why he is currently played further forward.
O’Hara’s point of view has got a lot of fans talking with many not happy with the pundit’s claim.
Disrespectful to say that about @21LVA I wonder if he was English how highly he would be rated?— Sajid Khokhar (@sajid2kmatami) August 10, 2020
I’m not a city fan but he looks quality already and hopefully see in an England shirt regularly soon too. Looks to have great attitude and is technically spot on. Not learning from bad players or coaches either is he!— D Kelsall (@d_kelsall) August 10, 2020
Foden looks a fantastic talent but to say he will be way better than Silva was at City is madness. So many poor pundits on Talksport— Graeme McVeigh (@GraemeMcV) August 10, 2020
U can’t compare Foden with them 2, completely different positions, if they were all vying for the same spot for England then yes, imo Foden and Greenwood are going to be quality for years— DEAN HOLT (@DEANHOLT1) August 10, 2020
Is he high.. Greenwood is a sensation and I’m not just saying that cause I’m a united fan but surly anyone can see that Greenwood is a very special talent— Farnaz (@Farnaz936) August 10, 2020
Not sure he will be way better than David Silva but theres a very good chance he will be Englands best player in the future! Whether its Foden or Greenwood surely that can only be good for the national team— kieran mallett (@avfckieran) August 10, 2020
To be fare I’m a city fan and think Foden has the potential to be a great player but Jamie Ohara did say that the Bournemouth job is bigger than the Rangers job 🤷♂️
Let’s not go down the road of he’s better than such and such, let’s just let these kids get on with their football.— neil (@neilpmcfc) August 10, 2020
Ridiculous.Even if this was the case (most fans and pundits wouldn’t agree) why do the media continuously put so much pressure on our brightest English talents? Building them up so we can insult them when they don’t meet the high expectations you’ve set for them.
