Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claims Kevin De Bruyne is set to reject the Citizens’ first contract offer.
The Belgium international has developed into one of the best midfielders in the world during his near-six-year stint at City and still has over two years remaining on his current deal.
De Bruyne has played a part in 14 of City’s 15 Premier League games so far this season and has been the creative drive behind the Citizens’ attack, setting up eight goals while scoring three.
Pep Guardiola’s side have tabled a new proposal to the 29-year-old, but according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, the Belgian will not put pen to paper on the contract currently proposed by the club.
A seperate report from Time Sport claims the Belgian is set to reject City’s first contract offer and is concerned by the pace of negotiations with the club over a new five-year deal.
The report adds that there is no suggestion that the the 29-year-old wants to end his six-year association with the club, and given the current financial climate, it is unlikely that any suitor would be able to afford a substantial fee for De Bruyne and his wages.
The €120M rated star is already the club’s top earner on £310,000-a-week but he falls short compared to some others in the Premier League.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Kevin deserves £600K a Week in totality.

Give him whatever he wants. Without KDB we are nothing. Imo I’d take KDB over Messi

Why are we even stalling with this. Give him the paper let him write his figures and sign the contract. It’s that simple

Isn’t it funny how negative articles about City players come out right when we’re doing well?
The whole Stones saga earlier on. Foden. Mendy. Sterling many times in the past. Wouldn’t be surprised to see one about Laporte soon.
