Manchester City has accepted bids from two Premier League clubs for Liam Delap, a young player from their academy. Delap, who has had loan spells in the Championship, is now set to move to the Premier League with either Ipswich Town or Southampton. The transfer is expected to benefit one Championship club, Derby County, which had inserted a sell-on clause when Delap joined Manchester City in 2019.

The initial bid for Liam Delap is worth £15 million with potential add-ons, and Manchester City will also keep a 20% sell-on and buy-back clause. Delap’s development from the academy to potential Premier League player will result in significant profit for Manchester City and rewards for Derby County’s investment in his youth development. Delap initially joined Manchester City from Derby County in 2019 and has since made appearances in the Carabao Cup, Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League.

After successful loan spells in the Championship with Stoke City and Preston North End, Delap secured consistent game time at Hull City last season. His potential transfer to the Premier League is a testament to his development and talent, which will benefit both Manchester City and Derby County financially. Delap’s journey from the academy to the first team showcases the success of youth development programs in football clubs.
