David Ornstein has revealed that Manchester City are interested in Newcastle United’s star player. In recent years, City has a history of signing players from other Premier League clubs, such as Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes. Despite interest from other clubs like Liverpool, it seems unlikely that Newcastle will let go of the player due to the high potential fee it would take to strike a deal.
The player in question, Anthony Gordon, joined Newcastle in January 2023 for a reported fee of £45m. Since then, he has made a significant impact on the team, scoring goals and providing assists. Gordon’s impressive season stats in terms of shots on goal and goal-creating actions have caught the attention of clubs like Manchester City. However, Ornstein suggests that a move away from Newcastle this summer is unlikely, dampening any hopes of City fans seeing Gordon join their squad.
Despite Manchester City’s admiration for Gordon and other potential transfers like Bruno Guimaraes, the likelihood of Gordon leaving Newcastle this summer seems remote. With no intention from Newcastle to let go of the player and the high fee it would require, it appears that Gordon will be staying put at St. James’ Park for the foreseeable future. City fans may need to temper their expectations regarding any potential transfer moves involving Gordon.
