Manchester City has had a successful transfer window with significant revenue earned from player sales, including Julian Alvarez for £64.4 million, Liam Delap, Sergio Gomez, and Micah Hamilton. The club’s net profit has been impressive, with deals like the signing of Savinho costing an initial £21 million fee. However, more players could be leaving the Etihad Stadium, including Joao Cancelo who has received a bid from Al Hilal for £33.9 million. Cancelo’s status at the club has changed since signing a new deal two years ago, and City may benefit from selling him.
If Manchester City secure the reported £33.9 million fee for Cancelo, they should be content with the deal given his age and decreased stock since his best playing form. While Cancelo is still a quality player and a starter for Portugal, he is no longer regarded as one of the best full-backs in world football. The club could benefit financially and by parting ways with Cancelo, allowing him to continue his career at Al Hilal. Despite once being considered one of the best, City should be satisfied with the reported deal for the player.
