According to reports from Sport Italia, Manchester City and Arsenal are both showing interest in Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra. The 20-year-old Spanish Under 21 international has impressed with his performances this season, establishing himself as a regular starter for the La Liga club.
Guerra broke into the starting eleven towards the end of last season and has since become a key player for Valencia. Despite signing a four-year contract last year with a reported €100m buyout clause, it has been suggested that the Spanish club would be willing to sell for around €40m.
In addition to Arsenal and Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle have also been linked with the midfielder. Manchester United in particular have been closely monitoring Guerra, with scouts regularly watching him and contact with his representatives already made.
However, Manchester City may have an advantage in recruiting Guerra, as they have a good relationship with Valencia, having signed Ferran Torres from the club a few years ago. While United may have a head start in talks, the prospect of playing for the Premier League and European champions could sway Guerra’s decision.
It is also suggested that City’s pursuit of Guerra may be more likely to happen if Kalvin Phillips leaves the club on a permanent basis. The England international is currently on loan at West Ham.
Overall, the speculation surrounding Guerra’s future is strong, with multiple Premier League clubs expressing serious interest in the young midfielder. It remains to be seen whether Manchester City or any other club will make a concrete offer for the highly-rated Spanish talent.
