Jack Grealish has revealed himself to be a Home Alone superfan as he went sight-seeing in New York City to walk in the footsteps of Kevin McCallister.

The Manchester City star has touched down in New York to enjoy some time off after crashing out of the 2022 World Cup with England.

Grealish emphasised his love for Christmas on his Instagram stories and explained how he was going to visit iconic scenes from Home Alone 2.

Following in the footsteps of Kevin, Grealish popped over to see the Park Plaza Hotel, where the main character stayed after he boarded the wrong flight.

Posting a snap of the hotel, Grealish said: “If you know me, you know how much I love Christmas and Home Alone.

“So absolutely buzzing I could come to New York at Christmas time and basically just see everyone [sic] where Kevin went. The Plaza Kevin’s hotel.”

Grealish was making reference to the plot of the 1992 sequel, in which Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, ends up separated from his family as they jet off to Florida and he ends up on a flight to New York.

Whilst there, Kevin encounters the Wet Bandits, Harry and Marv, who had tried robbing his home in the first flick, and hilarity ensues.

The first stop on Grealish’s tour was the Plaza Hotel, where mischievous Kevin racked up a huge $967 bill on his dad’s credit card, splashing out on ice cream and bubble baths.

Grealish also managed to visit the Wollman and Lasker rinks in Central Park, where bumbling burglars Harry and Marv took a tumble on the ice while in hot pursuit of Kevin.

Grealish then shared a shot of the Bethesda Terrace – a large terrace in the Park – noting that Kevin was on the run in this spot.

Grealish wound up his Home Alone tour by paying a visit to the Christmas tree at Rockfeller Centre.

The tree, which is reportedly 75 feet tall, is at the centre of the film’s climax, as it is where Kevin rejoins his frantic mum, played by Catherine O’Hara, for a heartwarming reunion.

Grealish’s whistlestop tour around New York generated some buzz on social media, as fans described the footballer’s excitement as ‘incredibly cute’.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “He needed a picture in the limo with a cheese pizza,” a call-back to the antics of big spender Kevin.

Another tweeted: “Nothing to see here, just JG being beyond cute at Home Alone locations in NYC!”

Grealish’s trip to New York will have undoubtedly lifted his spirits after England was booted out of the World Cup last week, after losing 2-1 to France in Qatar.
