During the summer transfer window, Manchester City saw a number of players leave the club, with some being sold permanently and others loaned out to different clubs. Leeds United’s chief executive, Angus Kinnear, revealed in an interview that he was looking to sign Man City’s James McAtee but Pep Guardiola decided to keep him at the club. Guardiola has shown belief in McAtee, who has only played one minute in the Premier League this season, and wants him to be part of City’s squad for the busy season ahead.
Despite interest from Leeds United, Guardiola’s decision to keep McAtee at Manchester City shows his belief in the midfielder’s potential. Kinnear also mentioned that another target, Fabio Carvalho, who could have been loaned out, was eventually sold to Brentford for £27 million. It is clear that Guardiola sees McAtee as a valuable player for City, as he has been included in the senior squad this season after spending the previous two seasons on loan at Sheffield United.
