Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Aymeric Laporte has rejected a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 29-year-old Spaniard has a contract with Manchester City until the summer of 2025 and he has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
90min reported in April that Tottenham, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, were both offered the services of the French defender.
At the start of June, the same publication suggested that Laporte was one of the top targets for Spurs this summer. They reported that the player is high on their shortlist.
ccording to Football Insider, Spurs have sounded out the Spanish defender regarding a summer move. However, Laporte has now turned them down. Apparently, the defender does not wish to join the London club.
Laporte is a proven performer in the Premier League and he has won multiple trophies with Manchester City during his time at the club. He could’ve been a quality acquisition for Tottenham.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@NjotuPower: “Can’t even fault him. It’s reasonable.”
@Brxyne_17: “Why would he downgrade”
@kwiblinfrankie: “Would have been a big downgrade”
@DavidaTurris: “Tottenham is a huge downgrade for Aymeric”
@SirPepBaldiola: “Understandable, wants to carry on winning trophies”
@Ntuthuko_Mac: “That would’ve been a massive downgrade honestly.”
