Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Aymeric Laporte is not happy at and believes his time in the Premier League is ending.

The 28 year-old has had a very stop-start campaign up until this point for Manchester City, registering just 19 appearances across all competitions under Pep Guardiola, and contributing one assist in the process.

Knee surgery last summer meant the Spain international was absent for the opening matches of the 2022/23 season, while the World Cup break in the middle of the campaign, as well as a recent bout with illness, has seen Aymeric Laporte struggle for consistent game time.

It now appears as though Laporte could actively go in search of a new club this summer, in an attempt to hold down a permanent spot as a central defender in the starting XI of a top European side.

According to journalist Sergio Fernandez, Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has grown unhappy at the club and believes his time in the Premier League is ending.

As per the report, the 28 year-old is not comfortable with his role in Pep Guardiola’s squad, and is eyeing a return to Spain with ‘a clear objective’: to play for Barcelona.

The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

@Sundayokeme1: “Can’t blame him, hope he doesn’t leave”

@Siphe_Sihle1: “He deserves to start more games, I honestly can’t blame him for wanting to leave..”

@Relly_95: “Unfortunate but understandable. But what lever is Barca activating to pay us Lool.”

@founded1894: “He should get more playing time but I understand Pep’s decision since our starting cbs are in such good form”

@futureadiankpo: “I think he’s really unhappy at the club and should leave but again, when I look at how far Nathan Ake has come this season after he decided to stay albeit a shaky ’22 season, I always end up thinking maybe players should be patient. Well, look at Sterling at Chelsea right now…”

@JoeHartAke: “No problem with that. An incredile proffessional who given his immense quality and value to the team in-possesion, did not make a fuss publicly about how he dislikes his role in the current team. Gvardiol could be a healthy upgrade to him if he leaves”

@a779457: “I understand him wanting to go, but I hope he understands the opportunity that’s in front of him in the next few weeks. Ake is out and he has a chance to help the team win multiple titles. If he does that and wants to go, no problem and good luck to him.”

@oddity1912: “Will be sad to lose him but nobody has a permanent spot in the starting lineup for City. Anyone signing with us should know that. However there will be ample opportunities to make a mark..”

@usertrends101: “If anyone wants to leave, don’t play them for the rest of the season and sell them. Can’t risk playing Laporte vs Arsenal if he mentally is prepared to leave”
