Manchester City player, Sergio Gomez, could be out of the club after he was snubbed by Pep Guardiola despite being the only recognised left-back in the team in the just concluded season.

The Spanish defender has been waiting patiently for his time at Manchester City but seems that he will never be part of Pep Guardiola’s plan. Therefore, he might have to seek playing opportunities in other clubs, particularly in his home country.

According to AS, Spanish club Real Sociedad have shown interest in the 23-year-old defender and want a quick business with Manchester City in the coming days.

AS reported, that the Sociedad started the conversation when the Manchester City director Txiki Beguiristain recently made a trip to Spain. It added that they have been making progress in their pursue of the defender.

On Sunday, Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay and sporting director Roberto Olabe travelled to England, and ‘everything indicates’ that they are heading for Manchester, to discuss the possibility of signing the defender from the Premier League champions.

Real Sociedad showed interest in the defender last summer but their efforts to sign him failed after Pep Guardiola convinced the him to stay at City having been the only recognised left-back in the team.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t good enough to secure his place in the Man City team. The Spanish manager converted his centre-backs to left-back. Joško Gvardiol who joined the Sky Blues from RB Leipzig occupied the left-back position for the most part of the season.

In his debut season, Gvardiol played 39 matches, started 37 out of the matches and managed to score 5 goals and provided another 2 assists.

Gomez, on the other hand, had 4 starts in bis 14 appearances for Manchester City in the just concluded season. He, however, managed to score 1 goals.
