Sergio Aguero is considered a Manchester City legend for his record-breaking 260 goals scored during his time at the club between 2011 and 2021. After leaving City, a statue was erected outside the Etihad Stadium to honor his contributions, including the historic late winner that secured their first Premier League title in 2012. However, pundit Don Hutchison believes that current City player Kevin De Bruyne could surpass Aguero as the club’s greatest player. De Bruyne was signed in 2015 for £54m and has since made 385 appearances, scoring 103 goals and providing 171 assists, while also winning multiple trophies including six Premier League titles and City’s first Champions League.
Hutchison praised De Bruyne for his performance against Ipswich, highlighting his skill and impact on the team. Former player Frank Lampard also lauded De Bruyne as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history. With the Belgian midfielder’s impressive achievements during his time at City, it is difficult to argue against Hutchison’s claim that De Bruyne could be Manchester City’s greatest ever player, surpassing even the record-breaking Aguero.
