According to a Bayern Munich board member, Pep Guardiola was contacted over the appointment of his former captain and Manchester City legend, Vincent Kompany, as Bayern head coach.

Kompany is regarded as one of the best young managers in the world at the moment. He had an incredible year at Anderlecht in the Belgium pro league before taking over the managerial role at Burnley.

Last campaign, he had a remarkable season with Burnley. He won the Championship for them and got them promoted to the English top-flight league. He, however, failed to make them in the Premier League for more than a season before they were relegated.

Burnley failed to cope with the intensity of arguably the best league in the world. They finished in 19 position, winning just 5 of their 38 league matches. 24 of the matches resulted in defeats, while the remaining 9 ended in draws.

Surprisingly, despite his failed attempt at the Premier League, Vincent Kompany is about to be named as the replacement of Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich. The former Man City captain has reportedly agreed personal term with the Bundesliga giants.

He said Pep gave valuable advice and spoke highly of his former captain. He admitted that the opinion of the Manchester City manager, who also worked at Bayern Munich was appreciated and crucial to their decision.

“Pep Guardiola was also helping us with Kompany, he spoke very highly of Vincent as talented coach. Pep knows Vincent well and his opinion was really appreciated,” he said, according to Sportskeeda.
