Despite City’s dominance in shots and possession, Barcelona defended well and held them to a 2-2 draw before winning in the shootout. Gundogan, who was not in the matchday squad, met his former teammate Stefan Ortega after the game, sharing a picture and fond memories.
City will now face Chelsea in their final pre-season match in the United States, assessing their performance against Barcelona. Despite the friendly nature of the match, the players did not seem too disappointed with the result. Gundogan and Ortega, who shared a dressing room at City, have maintained a close friendship even after their time together at the club.
