Atlético Madrid President has spoken about the transfer speculations involving Julian Alvarez, as many Man City fans are eager to confirm the viral report regarding the future of the City star.
Alvarez joined the Cityzens as a promising and talented striker who was one of the best at River Plate, a club in his home country, Argentina.
The forward wasted no time to show his brilliance at Manchester City despite having a limited game time. In his debut season, he scored 16 goals and provided another 4 assists across all competitions for the Premier League champions.
Similarly, last campaign, he found the back of the net 17 times and assisted his teammates 12 times. However, despite his 29 goal contributions, it was reported that he will likely leave Etihad Stadium this season to seek more playing opportunities.
Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint Germain, PSG, are the leading teams rumoured to have interest in the Argentine, but Atlético’s president Enrique Cerezo said he did not believe the Manchester City strike will leave the Premier League champions .
He said: “Julian Alvarez is a Manchester City player, and I don’t think he’s going to move from there.”
According to the report, Man City are not planning to sell Alvarez but will only consider a bid of at least €80million (£67.9million) before add-ons for the Argentina international, a fee likely to be too expensive for Atlético.
It was also reported that Chelsea have joined the race for a Manchester City striker and will rely on their good transfer relationship with the Sky Blues to have a smooth transfer business.
Chelsea had a great deal with Manchester City in recent years. They signed Cole Palmer from City, a year after signing Raheem Sterling, while Mateo Kovacic also moved in opposition direction.
