Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta are the only undefeated managers in the Premier League this season, with their teams, Manchester City and Arsenal, respectively, both yet to lose a game. Despite a dramatic 2-2 draw between their teams, Guardiola’s side has only dropped points in one match this campaign, while Arteta’s side has drawn two games. Guardiola showed visible delight when John Stones scored, but also expressed frustration at defensive errors that allowed Arsenal to score, and missed opportunities to capitalize on a 10-man Arsenal team.

Andros Townsend was surprised at Guardiola’s lack of substitutions to spice up City’s attack against Arsenal, especially when the opposition was allowing space for City’s defenders to bring the ball forward. Guardiola has a habit of being reluctant to make too many substitutions, but on this occasion, introducing John Stones as a substitute proved to be effective in saving City from a loss. It remains to be seen if Guardiola will change his approach in future games when City need goals urgently.
