Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo, who was recently eliminated from the European Championship with Portugal, has been offered to two Serie A clubs by agent Jorge Mendes. Cancelo had previously faced issues with Manchester City, including a training ground bust-up with manager Pep Guardiola, leading to loan spells at Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Despite winning trophies with City, he is not part of Guardiola’s plans for the upcoming season.
The 30-year-old defender made a significant impact during his time with Barcelona in the recent 2023/24 season, but Manchester City is looking to cash in on him this summer. With Barcelona facing financial constraints, other clubs, including Inter Milan and Juventus, have been offered the chance to sign Cancelo. The player is reportedly willing to lower his salary to facilitate a return to the Italian top-flight and play in the Champions League next season.
In addition to Serie A clubs, Saudi Arabian teams and Premier League side Arsenal have also shown interest in signing Cancelo. Manchester City may take Cancelo on their pre-season tour to the United States if his future is not resolved soon. Agent Mendes is working to secure a permanent exit for Cancelo from Manchester City, with a lower asking price of €25 million set by the club.
