“Advanced negotiations” – Manchester City close to signing attacker

Manchester City were initially interested in Vélez Sarsfield’s Maher Carrizo during the summer.

In July, we covered claims from Argentine of Manchester City’s desire to exercise his €16m release clause. Pep Guardiola’s side didn’t make advances, and the 19-year-old is still at Vélez Sarsfield. Since then, he’s extended his contract until December 2027.

The forward came through the ranks of the Argentine club’s youth system. He made his way into their first team in 2024 and impressed last year. Carrizo operated mainly as a winger, scoring 10 goals and contributing an assist from 35 matches.

Manchester City are now back in the mix to sign the young attacker. That’s at least what Soccer News in the Netherlands…
