Michael Dawson has shared his prediction for the highly anticipated match between Manchester City and Liverpool.
This showdown is crucial in the Premier League title race, with City having the chance to take the top spot if they secure a victory.
On the other hand, a win for Liverpool would widen their lead, while a draw could create an opportunity for Arsenal to move up if they win against Brentford.
Despite Liverpool facing a significant injury crisis with up to nine players sidelined, City has historically struggled at Anfield.
The Blues have only managed one win at the stadium in over 20 years, with that victory coming when no fans were present. Nonetheless, City must overcome this challenge to control their fate in the title race.
Former Tottenham defender Michael Dawson believes this match is massive for both teams. He predicts a score draw and emphasizes the importance of Salah’s return for Liverpool.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, he said: “Huge, huge game.
“You look at the games City have got coming up as well with Arsenal.
“I think City will win the league, I’ve said that, but they’ve got two weeks now where it is absolutely massive. It’s huge for them.
“Arsenal obviously in a couple of weeks, they’ve got Chelsea as well. All these games coming up in a few weeks but this one at the weekend.
“I think it’s huge for Liverpool, it’s massive to have Salah back involved with the squad.
“I go for a draw. A score draw by the way, I don’t see it being 0-0 that’s for sure.”
Guardiola has been secretive about the fitness of his injured players, but it is unlikely that Jack Grealish will feature, and Jeremy Doku’s availability is uncertain.
Liverpool’s injury concerns are more severe, with key players like Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, and Alisson among those unavailable. This could give City an advantage, especially if their own injured players are unable to recover in time for the match.
Overall, the match between Manchester City and Liverpool promises to be a thrilling encounter with implications for the title race. Both teams will be looking to overcome their injury setbacks and secure a positive result in this crucial fixture.
