Manchester City easily defeated Slovan Bratislava 4-0 in their second Champions League match of the season, with goals from Gundogan, Foden, Haaland, and McAtee. Slovan Bratislava, participating in the Champions League for the first time, gave City too much space to exploit. The win allowed City to equal Manchester United’s record of 25 unbeaten games in the Champions League.
The format of the Champions League league phase is new, so it is unclear how many points are needed to qualify directly for the Round of 16. City’s upcoming match against Slavia Praha could see them break United’s record, as they are favorites to win. The motivation to make more history in the Champions League will be high for City in their next game.
