Manchester City started their Champions League campaign with a 0-0 draw against Inter Milan, despite dominating possession and attempts at goal. Pundit Chris Sutton was surprised by Inter’s ability to beat City’s press and create scoring opportunities, highlighting their bravery in attacking the Premier League side. Inter managed to register 13 attempts at goal, four of which were on target, showing their threat despite having less possession than City.
Despite City’s dominance in possession and passing, Inter Milan proved to be a formidable opponent by creating scoring opportunities and being the first team to have 10 shots in the opening half of a Champions League game at the Etihad since 2017. Sutton was impressed with Inter’s ability to handle City’s pressure and still pose a threat going forward, showing their capabilities in challenging one of Europe’s top teams.
