Manchester City are set to sell Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for a club record fee of £82 million. This transfer has put Real Madrid “on alert” as they could potentially be in the market for a replacement. Alvarez had expressed a desire to leave City and Atletico emerged as the frontrunners in the race for his signature. While City are expected to make a profit of £68 million from this deal, they are already looking at potential replacements, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo being mentioned as a player Pep Guardiola admires.
However, the likelihood of Rodrygo moving to City is low, as he has shown commitment to staying at Real Madrid. Despite this, the possibility of City making a move for the Brazilian forward has put Real Madrid on alert. Rodrygo’s versatility and quality would make him an attractive option for City, but it remains to be seen if a deal can be reached in the transfer window. While the move is highly unlikely, the unpredictability of the transfer market means that nothing can be ruled out completely.
