Manchester City and Real Madrid have faced off multiple times in recent Champions League tournaments, but have only engaged in transfer business a few times, such as signing Danilo in 2017 and selling Brahim Diaz in 2019. Journalist Mario Cortegana shared an update suggesting that City could be interested in signing Rodrygo, with Guardiola reportedly a big admirer of the Brazilian. However, Rodrygo’s camp insists he will stay at Real Madrid for at least one more season, and the club does not expect a bid from City. With City already having plenty of wide options in their squad, it may not be necessary for them to pursue a move for Rodrygo this summer.
Rodrygo has been valued at €120m by Real Madrid and has impressed with his performances, scoring 54 goals and providing 41 assists in 216 appearances for the club. While he may be a talented player worth pursuing in the future, City should focus on their current squad and potentially revisit their interest in Rodrygo in the future. It seems unlikely that a bid will be made for him this summer, especially with the player’s camp indicating his intention to stay at Real Madrid for now.
