Manchester City’s Oscar Bobb suffered a fractured fibula in training, ruling him out of action for three to four months. The £25,000-a-week player was expected to have a standout season, with predictions of him being the Premier League’s best young player. With Bobb injured, Bernardo Silva may replace him, potentially impacting City’s midfield quality. While Mateo Kovacic is a quality player, he lacks the tenacity of Bobb in midfield. The team may need to prioritize signing Bruno Guimaraes, a “difference-maker” defensively, to fill the gap left by Bobb’s injury and add depth to the squad.
If Guardiola opts for Bernardo Silva as Bobb’s replacement, City may need Guimaraes to maintain midfield quality. Unlike Kovacic, Guimaraes excels defensively and is capable of playing with or without Rodri in the side. City could benefit from assessing the possibility of securing Guimaraes’ services in light of Bobb’s injury, as his presence would add a crucial element to the team’s midfield setup.
