Manchester City and the City Football Academy are making significant changes and additions ahead of the new season. This includes appointing Oliver Reiss as the new Under-18s manager and promoting Ben Wilkinson to head coach of the Elite Development Squad. Former defenders Richard Dunne and Kolo Toure are also returning to take up coaching roles within the youth set-up.
Manchester City’s Under-18s recently won the FA Youth Cup and reached the Premier League Cup Final, showcasing the strength of their youth set-up. The team has also made promising signings, such as 15-year-old Timeo Whisker and MLS starlet Cavan Sullivan. They are now close to signing West Ham starlet Xavier Parker, with the academy executives at the Etihad Stadium confident of completing the deal.
Xavier Parker, who made his debut for West Ham’s Under-18s earlier this year, is set to join Manchester City this summer. The Sky Blues are leading the race to sign the talented teenager, fending off interest from other top-flight English clubs. The addition of Parker further strengthens Manchester City’s already impressive youth academy and underlines their commitment to developing young talent.
