Manchester City have signed 15-year-old Timeo Whisker from Cardiff City, following their recent signing of American teenager Cavan Sullivan. The success of Manchester City’s academy is evident, with the Under-18s winning the FA Youth Cup and some players earning spots on the pre-season tour squad of the United States. However, Manchester City suffered a 2-3 preseason defeat to AC Milan, despite goals from Erling Haaland and James McAtee. The inclusion of academy players like Whisker will inspire other young players at the City Football Academy.
The signing of Timeo Whisker is part of Manchester City’s efforts to strengthen their academy. The teenager was wanted by several Premier League clubs before joining the City Football Academy. Journalist David Ornstein had previously reported that Manchester City was set to sign Whisker for around £250,000 on a schoolboy contract. Additionally, Manchester City recently announced 12 new scholars who were offered full-time contracts at the academy, further enhancing their youth development program.
The success of players like Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, and Oscar Bobb in Manchester City’s first team serves as motivation for younger players at the academy. With additional signings like Whisker and the new scholars, Manchester City is continuing to invest in their youth development program. The club’s academy has become a breeding ground for talent, with players moving up through the ranks and making their mark on the first team.
