An EFL club’s sporting director is keen on signing a Manchester City player on loan again for the next season. Manchester City has emerged as a top club in developing young talent, and many clubs are interested in taking their players on loan to aid in their development. One such player, Alex Robertson, impressed while on loan at Portsmouth in League One before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury in January.

Robertson, who joined City after leaving Manchester United at U15 level, made a significant impact at Portsmouth, making 23 appearances and contributing to 11 clean sheets before his injury. Despite the setback, Portsmouth’s sporting director Rich Hughes is open to another loan move for Robertson next season, praising his talent and ability to potentially play in the Championship. Robertson’s performance at Portsmouth has garnered interest from the club’s management, indicating a desire for a second loan stint.

City should consider sending Robertson back to Portsmouth for another loan spell, as it would provide him with the opportunity to continue his development in a higher division. Robertson’s injury halted his progress, but his previous performances have left a positive impression on Portsmouth’s management. With Portsmouth in the Championship next season, a return to familiar surroundings and a manager who values him could be beneficial for Robertson’s growth as a player.
