Watching Man City is like watching maths and that’s just soulless and boring

I have had a love for football for over 55 years. Regardless of the level or location, I will watch any game, much to the dismay of my partner. Whether it’s on TV or at the local recreation ground, I am there. I have even braved the cold to watch Dunoon Amateurs play in mid-winter. I have witnessed games like Hibs v Livingston in freezing temperatures and remained sober throughout.

However, a strange shift has occurred in my interest towards football. While watching Manchester City play against Wolves, I found myself disinterested, which is worse than being bored. Even the City crowd seemed unenthused, with Jamie Carragher noting the lack of energy in the stadium. Despite being 1-0 up, there was no sense of jeopardy, making the game unexciting for neutrals like myself.

The Premier League may need to address the issue of teams like Manchester City becoming boring champions. While their fans may not mind, neutrals are left unimpressed. The dominance of City in the league, coupled with their lackluster performances, raises questions about the excitement and competitiveness of the league as a whole.

The feeling of indifference towards City’s success is evident among many, highlighting a disconnect between their talent and the engagement of the audience. While City plays exceptional football, it fails to captivate the audience in the way other teams have in the past.

Despite City’s undeniable brilliance on the field, there is a sense of emptiness in their victories. The predictability of their wins and the lack of excitement in their games leave neutrals craving for more thrill and intensity in matches. The absence of suspense and competitive spirit diminishes the overall appeal of City’s dominance in the league.

In conclusion, while City may excel in their performance, the lack of excitement and engagement in their games raises concerns about the overall entertainment value of the Premier League. As a football enthusiast, I can’t help but feel disinterested in their games, longing for the thrill and unpredictability that makes the sport truly captivating.
