Joao Cancelo’s refusal to agree to a permanent move could cost Manchester City €30m this summer, as Barcelona is only interested in another loan deal for the full-back. This could potentially force City into accepting a deal that is not ideal for them financially. Barcelona is now in the process of planning for next season and would like to continue working with Cancelo, but only on a loan basis.
Cancelo has expressed a strong preference for Barcelona, making it clear that he is willing to reject any other proposals that come his way. This could leave Manchester City in a difficult position as they were hoping for a €30m sale to Barcelona or another club. If Cancelo continues to refuse negotiations with other parties, City may be forced to reach an agreement with Barcelona and miss out on the money they were looking for to offload the player.
Cancelo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is working to potentially secure another loan deal for Cancelo with City, rather than them being pressured into it. It appears that Cancelo’s strong desire to join Barcelona is a significant factor in these negotiations, leaving City at risk of losing out on a lucrative transfer fee if they are unable to find a suitable compromise.
