Manchester City’s under-18 squad captain, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, revealed that he rejected Manchester United after experiencing what he considered to be subpar training with the club. Simpson-Pusey, who has progressed through every age group at Manchester City since joining at the age of eight, is expected to play a crucial role in the FA Youth Cup final against Leeds United.
Simpson-Pusey signed his scholarship with Manchester City in July 2022 and has since made 18 appearances for the under-18s squad. He has also been asked to train with Pep Guardiola’s first team on several occasions. The 18-year-old has been learning and attempting to emulate the roles of players like John Stones and Sergio Ramos to further develop his skills on and off the ball as a commanding figure in defense.
Manchester City’s under-18 squad reached the FA Youth Cup final by defeating teams like Bristol City, Watford, and Tottenham along the way. With the final against Leeds United approaching, Simpson-Pusey is driven by the opportunity to make a mark in the tournament and follow in the footsteps of past City players who have gone on to play for the first team.
