Manchester City’s new signing, Cavan Sullivan, has set a bold goal of being part of the first-team squad at Etihad Stadium by the age of 18. The 14-year-old recently signed a record deal with the Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer, which will see him move to Manchester City in the future. Sullivan, who joined Philadelphia Union Academy at the age of 10, is now the youngest player in the club’s history to be added to the first team roster.
In an interview with ESPN, Sullivan expressed his ambition to become a regular player for the Union within the next two years and eventually become a starter. His ultimate goal is to be playing for Manchester City’s first team by the time he turns 18. Philadelphia Union’s sporting director, Ernst Tanner, highlighted Sullivan’s exceptional talent and soccer IQ, stating that his potential impact on the club over the next four years will be significant.
Tanner praised Sullivan’s skills, vision, and ability to read plays, advance the ball, and score goals, stating that the young player’s potential ceiling is extremely high. He expressed confidence in Sullivan’s ability to make a significant impact on the team and was pleased to have reached an agreement for him to join the Union on his first professional contract.
