Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva is reportedly set to leave the club after a successful seven-year tenure. The Portuguese playmaker has been eyeing a move closer to home and closer to his native cultures, with speculation linking him to Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in recent seasons. Despite his desire to leave Manchester and England, Silva has continued to perform at a high level, making him an attractive target for potential suitors.
Recent reports suggest that Barcelona is the frontrunner to sign Silva, with his entourage working towards making a move happen in the upcoming transfer window. Silva is said to be eager to join Barcelona and is even willing to reduce his wages to make the transfer possible. Barcelona’s 1:1 rule, which allows them to reinvest transfer earnings into new signings, could facilitate negotiations between the Catalan club and Manchester City.
Manchester City has a release clause of around £50 million in Silva’s contract, which could make it easier for Barcelona or any other interested club to secure his services. If a club is willing to meet the release clause fee, Silva will have the final say on whether he wants to make the move or not. With speculation surrounding his future intensifying, it looks like the end of Silva’s time at Manchester City is drawing near.
