Manchester City is reportedly willing to pay €50 million to sign German midfielder Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich, as he nears the final year of his contract. Kimmich could be a valuable addition to City’s midfield, especially since other signings in that area haven’t proven very effective. However, despite City’s financial capability to make the deal happen, Kimmich’s preference seems to be to join Barcelona, who may try to include players like Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo in the deal to lower his price.
While the prospect of Kimmich challenging himself in English football and reuniting with Pep Guardiola is appealing, Barcelona’s allure remains strong for the player. If Kimmich ultimately wants to join the Spanish giants, City may not push too hard to sign him and could shift their focus to other transfer targets. The potential deal involving player swaps, while rare in football, adds a layer of complexity to the negotiations for Kimmich’s transfer between the two clubs.
