Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City will be missing Ederson, Kyle Walker, and Nathan Ake for their upcoming Premier League match against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Manchester City is gearing up to face Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium in their next Premier League fixture, with the last defeat coming at the hands of Unai Emery’s team. The Sky Blues suffered a 1-0 loss at Villa Park back in December, courtesy of a deflected strike by Leon Bailey.
Despite maintaining their unbeaten streak with a goalless draw against Arsenal, Manchester City has fallen three points behind league leaders Liverpool after back-to-back draws with Arsenal and Liverpool. The absence of Ederson, Walker, and Ake in the Arsenal game, along with Ake’s injury, added to their challenges.
Ederson, Walker, and Nathan Ake are all ruled out for the upcoming match against Aston Villa, but there’s a possibility of John Stones making an appearance as per Guardiola. The international break brought a wave of injuries for Guardiola’s side, complicating their busy fixture schedule across competitions.
In addition to confirming the absence of Ederson and Walker, Guardiola expressed hope for Ake’s swift recovery from his recent muscular injury. He also mentioned that Stones, recovering from an abductor injury suffered while playing for England, needs to be fully fit before returning to action.
Ederson has been sidelined since the draw against Liverpool due to a thigh injury sustained during a penalty incident involving Darwin Nunez. Stefan Ortega has impressed in Ederson’s absence, with his goalkeeping skills earning praise from Guardiola and the fans.
