It has been reported that Manchester City may be able to secure one of their transfer targets for less than his buyout clause due to a special clause. The club, led by Pep Guardiola, is looking to strengthen their squad this summer, with a new midfielder being a priority. Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes are both potential targets, with Guimaraes catching the eye of City following his successful spell at Newcastle United.
Bruno Guimaraes was Newcastle’s first marquee signing after the takeover by PIF, and has impressed with his performances in the Premier League. Despite having a £100 million release clause, there is a verbal agreement that allows the player to negotiate with Champions League clubs for a lower fee. If a club offers at least £80 million, Newcastle will consider selling Guimaraes, who has been described as ‘exceptional’ by Guardiola.
City may see great value in signing Guimaraes as he is proven in the Premier League and can provide cover for Rodri. With the club likely needing to make big sales this summer, Newcastle could cash in on Guimaraes if a suitable offer is made. The Brazilian midfielder’s ability to play further forward also adds flexibility to City’s squad, making him a versatile and desirable signing for the club.
