Manchester City are interested in signing Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri this summer, as they have been monitoring the 22-year-old for over a year. The Premier League champions will face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea, who are also looking to strengthen their left side of defense in the upcoming transfer window. Ait-Nouri has been in impressive form this season and has a contract with Wolves that runs for two more years, with an option for a further twelve-month extension.
City are currently without a recognized left-back and manager Pep Guardiola has been using center-halves in that position this season. While Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake have filled in well, City are looking to bring in a specialist left-back. Ait-Nouri, given his age and attacking abilities, could be a good fit for Guardiola’s system without needing too much additional coaching. Premier League legend Alan Shearer has praised Ait-Nouri, particularly highlighting his debut performance for Wolves back in 2020.
Ait-Nouri’s consistency has improved in recent months, leading to speculation that he could make a move to Manchester City. While Wolves are not in a rush to sell the Algerian international, City’s interest in the young left-back could prompt a transfer in the upcoming transfer window. With competition from other Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea, City will have to make a strong case to secure Ait-Nouri’s services for the next season.
