Journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Manchester City are interested in signing Bundesliga star Florian Wirtz, who is currently making a name for himself in one of Europe’s top leagues. While City spent money last summer on young players, including Wirtz, they are still looking to make a move for the talented midfielder. Bayern Munich are also interested in Wirtz, but City may have a chance to sign him next year before he plans to move abroad in the future.
Wirtz has been described as a “special” player and has had an impressive season, scoring 17 goals and providing 19 assists in 43 appearances. Despite Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO stating that Wirtz is not for sale this summer, City should still try to secure a deal for him next year. The fact that Wirtz sees Bayern Munich as an intermediate step before moving abroad could work in City’s favor if they want to sign him before his planned move in 2025.
While Bayern Munich and other top clubs are also interested in Wirtz, City should make an effort to land the midfielder. His potential to move abroad in the future could be beneficial for City, and signing him next year could be a strategic move for the club. With Wirtz’s impressive performance this season and his future plans, City should continue to pursue a deal for the talented young player.
