Sweden’s national team manager, Jon Dahl Tomasson, has likened another nation to Manchester City in terms of their playing style and potential for success this summer.
Manchester City, under Pep Guardiola, are on track for a back-to-back Treble this season, competing in the Premier League title race against Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as the FA Cup semi-final and Champions League quarter-final.
The FA Cup last-four clash against Chelsea and the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid await Manchester City in the upcoming weeks.
Manchester City’s relentless pursuit of success on multiple fronts has impressed many, including Sweden’s national team manager.
In comments reported by The Portugal News, Jon Dahl Tomasson compared Portugal to ‘the Manchester City of national teams’, highlighting their recent success under coach Roberto Martínez.
Tomasson expressed his belief that Portugal, with their strong team and impressive performances, could win the European Championship. He praised their cohesive play and ability to create scoring opportunities in various ways.
Several Manchester City players are part of Portugal’s squad for the upcoming European Championships, with Ruben Dias, Matheus Nunes, and Bernardo Silva featuring in recent international friendlies.
Dias and Silva will return to Manchester City after being released from international duty, while Nunes scored in Portugal’s friendly win over Sweden. The trio will rejoin City for their upcoming Premier League fixture against Arsenal.
