Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be closely monitoring the condition of Eduardo Camavinga after the Real Madrid player sustained a suspected ankle injury.
Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti are set to face off in the UEFA Champions League for the third consecutive season next month, with Manchester City and Real Madrid meeting in the quarter-finals. The two teams clashed in the semi-finals last season, with Manchester City emerging victorious on their way to their first Champions League title. They have remained undefeated in the competition since a narrow defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu in May 2022.
Manchester City will play the first leg of the quarter-final tie in Madrid on Tuesday 9th April, followed by the second leg at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 17th April. The team is concerned about the fitness of Kyle Walker, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and Matheus Nunes, who all sustained injuries during recent international friendlies. Goalkeeper Ederson missed Brazil duty due to a muscular injury, while Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish were left out of their national team squads due to injury worries.
Real Madrid is also facing a fitness concern ahead of their clash with Manchester City, as Eduardo Camavinga suffered an ankle injury during an international friendly. The 21-year-old midfielder was forced off in the first half of France’s win over Chile and could be sidelined for at least two weeks, according to a report from Diario AS via Football Espana.
Camavinga has featured in six Champions League matches and 22 La Liga games for Real Madrid this season.
Real Madrid has one game scheduled before the City clash at the Bernabéu, while Manchester City will face Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace in the Premier League before traveling to Spain.
