Manchester City is making a bid to add Luciano Rodriguez, a forward from Liverpool Montevideo, to the City Football Group. However, they are facing competition from Eredivisie clubs. This move comes shortly after Manchester City and the City Football Group secured the signature of Claudio Echeverri from River Plate and Argentina for £12.5 million. The 18-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Etihad Stadium and will join the Premier League next year after completing a loan at River Plate until January 2025.
Luciano Rodriguez is a 20-year-old forward who has scored two goals in five appearances for Liverpool Montevideo in the Primera Division this season and has a total of 18 goal involvements in 41 matches for the club. Manchester City is reportedly preparing a $15 million offer for Rodriguez, who has attracted interest from Feyenoord as well.
The City Football Group is showing serious interest in Rodriguez and has proposed a €15 million transfer fee with a 20% future sell-on clause to Liverpool in order to secure a deal. The potential destination for Rodriguez within the City Football Group, which includes 13 clubs globally, is currently unknown.
Internal transfers within the City Football Group do occur, with Savio set to move to the Etihad Stadium during the upcoming summer transfer window. This move highlights Manchester City’s ongoing focus on South American talent, with Rodriguez potentially becoming their latest acquisition from the continent.
