Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo, who is currently on loan, has resumed football activities after a precautionary break.
The versatile full-back had withdrawn from Barcelona’s recent La Liga match for undisclosed personal reasons but is now back on international duty with Portugal.
Concerns about Cancelo’s absence from the squad have been alleviated after he was cleared to resume playing following necessary medical checks.
Reports have detailed the process that led to Cancelo being sidelined on medical advice and subsequently reinstated after tests were conducted.
According to RAC1, Cancelo was withdrawn from the Barcelona squad as a precaution due to a family member’s heart condition.
Barcelona wanted to rule out any hereditary heart conditions that could potentially affect Cancelo’s career in the future.
Cancelo has now been cleared to resume playing, bringing relief to all parties involved.
Manchester City will consider their options for Cancelo during the summer transfer window as he is expected to return from his loan spell in Barcelona.
Barcelona may look to make Cancelo’s loan deal permanent but will need to meet City’s demands and fend off competition from other clubs.
