Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger visited Manchester City’s training base recently on behalf of FIFA, as detailed by Pep Guardiola.
The visit occurred after Manchester City’s success at FIFA’s ‘The Best’ awards, where Pep Guardiola was named Coach of the Year for his five-trophy haul in 2023.
Several players from Pep Guardiola’s squad were also recognized for their outstanding performances, including John Stones, Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and Erling Haaland in the 2023 FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World XI.
Ederson was the only Manchester City player to receive an individual award, winning The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper of 2023.
In a recent press conference, Pep Guardiola expressed his pleasure at welcoming Arsene Wenger to the City Football Academy training hub to present awards to players who couldn’t attend the ceremony in mid-January.
Guardiola praised Wenger as a legend in English football and talked about the positive experience of sharing moments outside of competition.
Manchester City and Arsenal will face off in the Premier League soon, with both teams vying for the top spot alongside Liverpool this season.
