Reports suggest that Jack Grealish is set to be given an extended break from Manchester City to ensure he fully recovers from his latest injury setback.
The England international suffered an injury during a UEFA Champions League match against FC Copenhagen earlier this year, which initially was expected to keep him out until early this month.
However, a quicker recovery saw him return for an FA Cup match against Luton Town, only to aggravate the injury within the first 20 minutes.
In light of this, Manchester City’s medical staff are taking a different approach to Grealish’s recovery process. They are opting for a longer recovery period despite the busy schedule of matches that the team faces.
According to reports by MailSport’s Jack Gaughan in the latest edition of the Man City Notebook, the club is focused on giving Grealish the time he needs to fully clear up his recurring groin issue before bringing him back into the team.
Despite important upcoming matches against Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle United, Manchester City is willing to wait for Grealish to recover fully.
There is a realization within the club that he may have rushed back too soon from the initial injury, causing more damage in the process.
As a result, there is no specific timeline for his return, with Pep Guardiola suggesting that he will not play for England during the upcoming international break.
Grealish will be working towards overcoming his groin problems and regaining his form from last season, with a goal of securing his spot in the England squad for the European Championships.
In the meantime, Guardiola may rotate between other players like Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes on the left side of the attack, as well as providing more opportunities to Oscar Bobb, who recently signed a new contract with the club.
