Manchester City’s Erling Haaland responded to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s comments about the club’s success with a sharp retort.
Alexander-Arnold criticized City and their fans, highlighting the financial differences between the clubs and suggesting that Liverpool’s achievements hold more significance to their fanbase.
Haaland, in an interview with Sky Sports, dismissed Alexander-Arnold’s remarks ahead of their clash at Anfield.
He pointed out City’s treble win in his first year with the club and implied that Alexander-Arnold didn’t understand the feeling of such success. Haaland seemed unfazed by the comments and focused on the upcoming title race in the Premier League.
The Manchester City striker said, “If he wants to say that, OK. I’ve been here one year and I won the treble. It was quite a nice feeling. I don’t think he knows exactly this feeling.”
Discussing the talk from their Anfield opponents, Haaland continued, “They (Liverpool) can talk as much as they want, or he (Trent Alexander-Arnold) can talk as much as he wants… I don’t know why he does that, but I don’t mind.”
The striker acknowledged the competitiveness of the league and expressed confidence in City’s chances of retaining the title. Despite facing strong competition from other clubs, Haaland believed in City’s capabilities to come out on top once again.
Haaland’s impressive form was evident in his recent performances, including scoring in the Manchester derby and netting five goals against Luton Town in the FA Cup. City’s upcoming match against Liverpool had significant implications for the title race, with a win potentially putting them at the top of the table.
As the battle for the Premier League title intensifies between City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, Haaland remained focused on his team’s performance and their pursuit of another championship.
The showdown at Anfield promised an exciting clash between two top contenders in the race for English football’s most coveted prize.
