Phil Foden has praised the resilience of the Manchester City squad, highlighting their ability to come from behind away from home to win in recent matches.
The team’s latest comeback victory came on Monday night at Brentford, where they defeated Thomas Frank’s squad despite Neal Maupay’s first-half opener.
Phil Foden’s three goals turned the game around and brought the reigning champions within just two points of Jurgen Klopp’s team in the Premier League standings.
In response to Manchester City’s successive ability to come from behind away from home to win, Phil Foden pointed to the team’s ‘resilience’ as the key factor.
Resilience,” Foden highlighted briefly before continuing, “we keep proving it season by season.”
“We keep surprising everyone how we’re keeping our standards high and it’s down to the manager and the fantastic group of players that we have, the togetherness when things aren’t going right to bounce back.”
Despite their successful run of results, Phil Foden is aware that the team will be pushed right to the end in the hunt for an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title.
He watched the game between Arsenal and Liverpool, acknowledging the strength of both teams and knowing that they will push Manchester City to the end of the season. Foden expressed the importance of not dropping points and striving to win all their games.
Looking ahead, Manchester City is set to face Everton at the Etihad Stadium in the weekend’s early kick-off and then prepare for a UEFA Champions League meeting with FC Copenhagen in the first leg of a last-16 tie.
Despite the challenges, the current holders of Europe’s premier club competition will feel confident in progressing through the two matches.
Overall, Foden’s praise of Manchester City’s resilience and acknowledgment of the tough competition ahead reflects the team’s determination and focus as they continue to pursue success in both domestic and European competitions.
