Jack Grealish made a surprise return to Manchester City’s bench for their match against Bournemouth, following his early exit due to injury in the Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen. Despite being in and out of the starting lineup this season, Grealish has been a key player for City in important matches.
The 28-year-old, who played a crucial role in City’s treble-winning campaign last season, has faced competition from new signings like Jeremy Doku and the stellar form of players like Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez. However, Grealish has often stepped up in big games for the Premier League champions.
Grealish picked up a groin injury in the first leg against Copenhagen and missed subsequent games against Brentford and Chelsea. But he returned to training ahead of the match against Bournemouth, much to the delight of manager Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola expressed surprise at Grealish’s quick recovery and emphasized the importance of having him back in the team. With his return, City now have a new attacking option on the left wing, providing a different dynamic to Doku and Foden, who have been instrumental in City’s attacking play this season.
If Grealish continues to progress in his recovery, he could be fully fit for the upcoming Manchester derby on 3rd March. His presence will be crucial as City aim to secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title and make a strong push for success in Europe this season.
