Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad are gearing up for their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2024/25 season with a trip to the United States. This marks City’s third successive international visit following the Covid pandemic, following a successful journey to far east Asia ahead of the ongoing 2023/24 season.
Last summer, Manchester City traveled to Asia, where the men’s first team participated in friendly fixtures in South Korea and Japan, playing against Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Yokohama F. Marinos. Their last visit to the USA was ahead of their historic treble-winning 2022/23 season, playing matches in Houston and Green Bay against Club America and Bayern Munich.
Reports have revealed that Guardiola and his players will revisit the United States this summer for their pre-season tour. The longer tour than usual will see them playing fixtures in four different locations, including Premier League rivals Chelsea and other ‘top European sides’ in Ohio, North Carolina, New York, and Orlando.
Even though plans for the 2024 pre-season tour have not been formally announced yet, the rapid global growth of the club is expected to drive up demand for tickets. Manchester City was the most-watched English team in all competitions in the United States in 2023, with a total average viewership hitting 36.9 million, compared to Manchester United’s 13.4 million.
In addition to their upcoming pre-season tour, Manchester City will also be visiting the United States the following year for the FIFA Club World Cup. This trip is part of their success in last season’s UEFA Champions League, making it clear that the United States has become an essential destination for the club in terms of commercial success and pre-season preparations.
